The Role To agree with the Operations Manager a workable strategy and to cascade this to the production team accordingly. To take accountability for ensuring that orders placed are produced in full and despatched on time to the required quality standard and customer specification whilst maintaining a controlled cost base to deliver profits. To ensure that site business objectives and performance targets are met and to agree operational KPIs to ensure that the site meets production efficiency, quality and yield targets. To ensure regular and ongoing analysis of results to identify performance shortfalls and implement remedial plans as required. To take accountability for the day to day managing of controllable overheads in terms of permanent and temporary labour costs, while keeping the Operations manager up to date and advising of risks or opportunities for savings as a matter of course. To build effective working relationships with and interface with all interested internal functions, Group Lead functions and Sales team to ensure that the production operation delivers the business requirements with a specific focus on regular and up to date liaison with buying – reference raw products, planning in terms of forecasting, technical and engineering. Maintain food safety legislation and key requirements. Work with Planning and the Commercial Liaison Manager to develop a critical path with commercial, NPD and Marketing. Drive continuous improvement. The Person Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to mentor employees. 3 rd Level qualification preferable. Previous production management experience.
