Our client, a leading Waterford based manufacturing company currently has a vacancy for a Mechanical Design Engineer . This is an opportunity to join a manufacturing company in a challenging and rewarding role with excellent opportunities for personal development. You will be part of a team which provides critical engineering support to customers and internal production in the form of product solutions, application support, CAD (SolidWorks) outputs and technical documentation. As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will play a key role in providing engineering expertise, consolidating existing company products and supporting new product development. You will have responsibility for generating concepts for prototype products and continuing through all phases to the final product. The role. CAD drafting and design including assembly drawings, component design and detail drawings. Demonstrate strong skills in conceptual design, product qualification, prototype bench testing and with knowledge of DFM methodology resulting in new products and processes. Research, interpret, implement and maintain compliance of company products to relevant standards. Lead or participate as a team member in New Product Introduction projects to provide Engineering support, working closely with Production and Quality departments and with other company sites. Act as a company representative for product quality and application support. The person. Engineering Degree or equivalent. Experience with SolidWorks CAD software. Solid working knowledge of regulatory requirements (ISO, PED, CE, Machinery Directive), product / process design, product realization processes and the creation of technical documentation packages would be a distinct advantage. Demonstrated experience and ability in project management structures, tools, techniques and reporting processes. Must have a background and strong understanding of design principles including mechanical components and assemblies, materials and specifications. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
