My client is actively seeking an experienced Java Developer for a 12 month contract, with highly desirable day rates, based in Waterford City. Role Summary: Performs development, implementation and support of application systems. Participates in functional and technical design. Provides ongoing support of application systems and provides coaching to other developers. May have achieved technology certification. Main Responsibilities : Design and code programs. Convert business specifications into application programs - Write documentation. Daily support of web applications -After-hour on-call support. Skill Set: Able to clearly define and document business functionality. Experience with tools and techniques for converting business requirements into technical application design. Able to design graphic user interfaces. Experience with multiple programming languages. Participate in requirement and design walkthroughs. Experience with tools and techniques for application testing. Knowledge of formal application development life cycle methodology. Good analytical skills; able to assess alternatives, risks and benefits. Good oral and written communication skills. Motivated self-learner with a desire to keep abreast of technology trends. Technical requirements : Java J2EE, JavaScript, XML, UNIX, HTML. Experience with relational DBMS, Experience with SQL development in on-line application. Experience with DBMS Notes/Unique. Qualifications: Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent with 5-8 years of programming and analysis experience developing J2EE applications.
