Associate Accounting Director (Waterford. Our client is a global leader in the pharmaceutical sector. They are currently recruitng for an Associate Accounting Director to play a key role as part of the European Accounting team and the successful applicant will work closely with the European Accounting Directors. In this position you will be responsible for overseeing all areas of group and statutory reporting for Ireland. You are also responsible for the development and maintenance of Accounting principles, practices & procedures in line with US GAAP, local GAAP & corporate policies. Knowledge of the pharma industry or FMCG would be advantageous. Experience of working within large/complex (preferably multi-national) organisations. The role will focus on statutory and group reporting rather than internal management reporting. Key responsibilities: Play a key leadership role across the Finance function, developing and coaching direct reports but also acting as a mentor and influence for people across the broader business. Establish and maintain a financial control framework commensurate with a business of this scale, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements. Recruit, manage and develop professional employees and/or team leaders ensuring the ongoing development of the team and creation of a high performance environment. Manage and oversee day-to-day operations. Responsible for preparation of statutory financial statements and other local requirements. Accurate and timely monthly reporting of several legal entities based on US GAAP / Business Units reporting guidelines. Review and coordination of monthly, quarterly and year-end closing activities. Collaborate with different stakeholders across the organization to ensure accurate presentation and valuation of all assets & liabilities (Treasury, Supply Chain, Global Accounting, Corporate Europe, Global Special Medicine group etc.) Review and provide information and clarifications to internal management regarding reported financial results. Responsible for VAT and income tax reporting and compliance, in cooperation with the local Tax Manager. Review and approve monthly / quarterly / yearly cash flow reports, in cooperation with the treasury department. Support and participate in initiatives and projects led by different stakeholders and lead projects. Ensure compliance with SOX, regulatory requirements and internal guidelines. Act as point of contact for external or internal auditors. Take ownership for resolving key audit findings and significant accounting matters. Become business partner & provide key support to the Ireland CFO in completion of his duties. Your Skills / Qualifications: Be educated to degree level, or equivalent, and possess a professional accounting qualification such as ACA/ACCA/CPA. At least 10 years of extensive experience in accounting including management positions. Experience in fast-paced multinational matrix organization. Strong knowledge of US GAAP. Knowledge of SAP and the pharmaceutical industry is an advantage. Hands-on and proactive; strong organizational skills. Results driven and service oriented to internal and external customers. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Excellent collaboration with colleagues within the local organization and with the colleagues within the shared service center to support the overall Finance department’s goals and objectives. Flexible and able to work in a changing environment. Open minded, pro-active, problem solver. Strong communication and influencing skills.
