The Role Support Plant Health and Safety programs and ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements and reports regarding Manufacturing area. Supervise all production activities. Plan, organise, train and delegate work. Ensure that all operators achieve the required output and quality standards. Communicate during each shift with the Value Stream Manager on all issues and provide daily reports. Ensure an effective handover with the preceding and following shifts. Address quality issues, non-conforming material, etc., using the MRR, RCA and RTA procedures. Motivate employees and maintain good morale in the department. Deliver employee briefings and provide feedback of same. Monitor operator efficiency/quality/attendance. The maintenance of all documentation associated with the Department, including oversight that documentation remains relevant and accurate as the production environment develops. Ensure that all equipment is maintained (operationally) and operated to meet demands while minimising downtime. Work with technician to trouble shoot machines. Help maintain a clean and neat working environment, ensuring high standards of housekeeping, and control of chemicals. Instil within the grinding area a sense of awareness and pride regarding plant appearance and product care. Ensure Plant Cross functional programs are supported to facilitate greater plant outputs e.g. TPM, 5S. Support production trials, new equipment installation/validation and grinding support as required. Promote an environment of compliance and continuous improvement. Ensure that all employees comply with the company Environmental Management Policies. Manage and update the core HR system. Motivate employees to maintain a high level of morale on the shift. Manage employee’s holidays to ensure optimum output from the shift. Manage all personnel issues from recruitment, to training and discipline. The Person. Minimum 3rd Level Diploma. Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience. Strong Mechanical Aptitude. Strong people management skills. Satisfactory broad based PC skills. Excellent communicator both oral and written. Knowledge of world class manufacturing and lean manufacturing principles. Experience of project management/trials/report writing.
