Permanent, full time position. Overall Purpose of Job. To manage and develop IWA’s Resource and Outreach services for people with physical and sensory disability and develop a range of new services in the area.  To ensure the long-term integration of people with physical disability into all aspects of Irish society through the appropriate use of a person centered approach. Liaison. For the successful implementation of this role there are a number of key relationships, which should be fostered and developed.  Internally there will be a high level of interaction with associated IWA staff, service users and volunteers.  Externally a high level of promotional contact will need to be established and developed with the HSE, local authorities, community groups and any other relevant statutory or voluntary agencies. Main Duties and Responsibilities. To implement the service models in the Resource and Outreach services. To support the implementation of person centred processes within the Resource and Outreach services. To implement and develop, in consultation with people with physical and sensory disabilities a range of new programmes/services that support participation and independence in the community meeting current and unmet needs. To conduct needs assessments, risk assessments and training needs analysis in partnership with people using the service. To plan, monitor and review services through identified service user needs and develop the strengths of these programmes within the confines of service plans. To manage and lead the staff in a manner that facilitates team building and supports the development of staff to meet the standards required by the Association. To manage the training and development of staff volunteers and service users, which will result in the enhancement of services delivered by the Association. To effectively manage and maximise the utilisation of budgets. To effectively manage the buildings and transport resources attached to the services. To ensure services provided are in keeping with IWA Standards of Practice. To develop and foster working relationships and communications with both statutory and voluntary agencies. To recruit and manage volunteers to assist with services, where appropriate. To build on the capacity of people with disability to play a full and active part in project activities. To promote the positive awareness of disability in the community. Any other duties as assigned to you from time to time. PERSON SPECIFICATION. Training, Experience and Qualifications.  A degree or professional qualification in one of the following disciplines: Applied Social Studies/Registered Nurse/ Social Worker / Community Work, and/or General Management is essential. A minimum of 5 years of people management experience is essential, including previous experience of working within disability sector or similar services. Knowledge and Skills. Computer literate including use of databases and Microsoft Office suite is essential. A full driving license and own car are required. Strong communication, creativity, problem solving and decision-making skills. Excellent negotiation and influencing skills. Experience of working with people with disabilities or a marginalised group. Behaviours. The ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team. Person centred approach.
